JOKER

A very personal creation having been given the opportunity by a client to paint my vision of the JOKER as played by Joaquin Phoenix.
A lifetime of feeling alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. He starts to finds solace behind a painted mask in an attempt to feel like he’s part of the world around him. Still isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, he begins the slow descent into a psychotic madness that transforms into the character he likes to call ‘Joker’.

With this artwork I’ve tried to capture an insight into mental heath struggles and that downward journey into mental illness that can often lead someone into hiding behind a self created character.  I found the chaos of  one of my used palettes to be the perfect ground for this painting.
