Description
‘Days Like These’ began as a celebration of one of the most beautiful cars ever created, the Lamborghini Miura, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Alps and inspired by the carefree spirit of the opening scene to The Italian Job, and a recent road trip I took through the Dolomites.
Resisting the temptation to overwork the landscape, the Alps were made to play their proper role in providing the stage upon which the Miura could take the limelight.
I wanted the winding mountain road and distant tunnel to create a sense of adventure and maybe trigger a nostalgic film themed memory whilst always leading the eye back to the bright orange Lamborghini attacking the next corner.
For me, this painting captures those rare moments when everything seems perfectly aligned: an iconic car, an empty mountain road and the freedom to simply enjoy the journey.
Those are the days we remember.
