Concorde by Ian Guy
An enjoyable move away from the automobile theme my art is now know for. This commissioned artwork was based on a memory not only of my client but also myself …
A very early childhood memory of mine is being held in my father’s arms, I must have been about 3 years old, we stood mesmerised as the mighty Concorde flew directly overhead on a test flight from Filton in Bristol to Fairford in Gloucester. I remember the overwhelming feeling of fear and safety in equal measures as the shear power, sound and sight rose over our house and engulfed us in the garden. We stood directly under the darkness of its shadow, a split second that lasted forever as I felt the tightening of my Dad’s arms around me … Unforgettable!
